Well another super-computer trade show came and went. This year it was in Denver Colorado. The exhibit floor was pretty packed this year however there was a lot of room around the back walls of the convention center which will hopefully be filled in the next iteration.

It’s pretty cool that this year, 7 of the top 10 systems in the world are ones that I’ve been involved with building in some capacity, and nearly 2/3rd’s of the top 500 are running software which I develop. It was really fascinating seeing how the technology I help develop is utilized for all sorts of crazy things.

The big ticket “hotness” this year was bulk simulation, storage, cooling, and of course quantum computing.

A.I. seems to be the market everyone is chasing and the various hardware and software vendors are on point to chase those dollars.

As I was walking around I got a kick out of the antique exhibits at the DOE booth

And of course the beautiful machining of the quantum processor isolation frame

As well as the module and stackable ion-trap quantum processor modules

Overall this year it was a fun and productive gathering, however Thursday was rough as mornings go when you visit long time industry friends at the various local haunts around Denver.
